James Lee set up his Sydney-based practice James Lee Designs in November 2022 after over five years as Interior Designer with Dylan Farrell Design and before that, two years with Thomas Hamel and Associates. Korean born, James spent his formative years in the United States, studied Business Management at George Washington University and held senior account manager roles in the United States, Korea and Australia. After relocating to Sydney and graduating from the Sydney Design School, an enviable position with Thomas Hamel and Associates followed.

With a penchant for the fine arts and high-end fashion, his passion for interior design grew and as did his commitment to providing creative and personalised interior solutions for his clients. His design philosophy is centered on creating thoughtfully curated spaces working collaboratively with both local and international artisans. He aims to create interiors of no particular period or theme, but that have character, elegance and a quality that suits the client’s needs and enhances their lives. He believes that the key in producing superior design outcomes is to forge strong relationships with his clients, encompassing their vision but taking them on a journey that challenges their thinking or perception of what is possible, educating them on the process and providing an enjoyable experience. James Lee Designs has notched up projects in the Eastern Suburbs and Lower North Shore and has commissioned local and international artists with a number of art installations.
